Austin is the capital of Texas, home to the UT Texas Longhorns, and a city known for diverse arts, entertainment, great food, and lots of fun stuff to do!

You’ve probably heard the saying “Keep Austin Weird” and it’s always said with affection. Austin is a city of old bootleg houses next door to new high-rise buildings. Everywhere you look, your eyes are met with history and beautiful works of art.

Within walking distance of the Downtown Hilton Austin convention hotel, you will find the Texas State Capitol. It is the largest state capital in the country. Free tours are available on most days.

​

You can also walk to the famous “Bat Bridge” and watch hundreds of bats fly out at sunset to begin a night of feasting on mosquitos!

​

The famous Austin City Limits, celebrating 50 years of PBS broadcasts, is also close by, as are many eclectic and unique restaurants, bars, and comedy clubs.

​

The Austin Visitor Center and Gift Shop is next door to our hotel. From there you can arrange walking tours, Duck tours, bike tours, double decker bus tours and more to really get out and see what the city has to offer! There is also plenty of outdoor adventure with the Lady Bird Lake walking and biking trails, dinner cruises and boat rentals.

Do you like to shop? There are several toy stores in the downtown area as well as the Texas Toy Museum and Arcade.

If you’re looking for upscale shopping, Austin has you covered there too. The Domain offers Balenciaga, Burberry, Christian Louboutin, Gucci and more.

​

Whole Foods began in the Austin area and one of their flagship stores is in the downtown area.
